For 2020, I chose courage for my word of the year. Or maybe I should say the word “courage” chose me.
I always start off the year with a post about the why: “Living 2020 Full of Courage” .
Then throughout the year I share Bible Verses, Quotes, and photos related to my word on my social media and blog. I wanted a place to put all those things, so I created this highlight page. This summary is just as much for me as it is for someone else who might choose the word courage one year.
Courage Bible Verses:
I find it fascinating that courage is linked to strength in many of the verses found in the Bible. In order to have courage, we need to lean on God’s strength. Here are verses I’ve drawn upon throughout the year.
Joshua 1:9 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
2 Chronicles 19:11 – Act with courage, and may the Lord be with those who do well.
1 Chronicles 17:25 – You, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him. So your servant has found courage to pray to you. O Lord, you are God! You have promised these good things to your servant. Now you have been pleased to bless the house of the your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight, for you, O Lord have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.
1 Corinthians 16:13 – Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
Courage Quotes:
I have had fun finding courage quotes from some great creative minds and sharing them on social media and in my blog.
Courage Sitings Throughout the Year:
I like to think that when I find my word of the year in a book or newspaper or some other item, that it’s a sign for me to remember my word and stop and pause and remember to have courage to keep following my dreams and goals.
Articles or Blogs about Courage:
I’ve written about courage in my blog.

Introducing Moments of Encouragement
Why Courage was a good Word of The Year
As the year unfolded, I found courage to be a good word to focus on. It reminded me to be strong and have courage during days that were hard. It enabled me to share my courage with others. And I found that I really liked what the word courage meant and represented.
Just like every year, I will be sad to say goodbye to the word courage, but I have found, just like other words, that it will always be a part of me and something I will refer back to at times.
I hope someone else can be blessed with these highlights as well.
